French Curriculum Statement

At Castle View Primary School a high-quality languages education should foster pupils’ curiosity and deepen their understanding of the world. The teaching of French should enable pupils to express their thoughts and ideas in a different language and to understand and respond to its speakers, both in speech and writing. In line with the Language Programmes of Study (National Curriculum in England), it should also provide opportunities for pupils to communicate for practical purposes, discover new ways of thinking and read literature in the original language.

The teaching of French at Castle View Primary School should provide the foundation for learning further languages, equipping pupils to study and work in other countries.  After accessing first quality French teaching, pupils will be adequately prepared for further MFL teaching in KS3.
